We have made nothing but hoi tod for over fifty years: big mussels, plenty of egg and little batter, cooked to order on a wide flat griddle, soft or crispy as you like, a short walk from Ayutthaya station.
Ya Chit has cooked hoi tod since she was a child, from a batter and sauce recipe handed down from her great-grandmother, and has sold it as our only dish for more than fifty years.
Ours is not a thick pancake: batter, egg and mussels are stir-fried on a big rectangular griddle and broken into pieces until crisp outside and tender inside. Bean sprouts are fried separately so nothing turns soggy, and we add no MSG.
Up the stairs, a cool room lined with window stools overlooks the tracks, and plenty of guests finish their plate here before catching the train home.

We sit on the station side, east of the old island city; over the Pa Sak River lies the historical park. Those four shots show Ayutthaya around us, not our dining room.

We are on the road along the railway, a short walk or drive from Ayutthaya station, on the left just before Wat Thammaniyom (Wat Yom). Look for the Hoi Tod Ya Chit sign.
Park on the opposite side of the road or inside Wat Thammaniyom.
There are tables downstairs and an air-conditioned room upstairs; help yourself to ice, and try the kanom tuay we also sell.
Mondays we rest. Otherwise, if in doubt, message our Facebook page or ring Ya Chit on 082 077 0954.
Soft or crispy: what's the difference? Soft is fluffy batter and egg; crispy is chopped on the griddle into small crunchy pieces. Tell us how crisp you want it when you order.
How far is it from Ayutthaya station? A few minutes on foot along the road beside the tracks, just before Wat Thammaniyom; plenty of guests eat here and walk back for their train.
